This Week ...

Was wild. So much work it was hard to stick to the programme.

I twice had to hit the long distance running as a quick fix a lot this week - all I did is build-in interval training as a means to make it "anerobic".

And it did over-tax my leg and hip muscles in a way that a 6-mile long distance paced run couldn't.

In fact I was able to squeeze the whole workout hour long into just 30 minutes. Here are the bits of the run that made it a very non-aerobic run:

1. It was raining and there were puddles everywhere. I leapt over the puddles rather than running through them. In a minute of running I would jump about 3 - so I got in about 90 long leaps (about 3 or four feet each puddle).

2. The sun/rain combo weather has caused the stinging nettle ("poison ivy") to overgrow on to the path. So I leapt over the shrubs and lifted my knees so that the ivy (mostly) hit my socks or shoes.

3. I listened to socially irresponsible high-energy hip hop and rock -which makes me run faster. :-)

4. I ran 2 minutes at a quick jog and 2 minutes at an all out sprint. Basically, 15 minutes total for each speed, alternating 2 minutes each.

After 30 minutes, I was seriously winded and just barely made it back home. Amazing. I can normally run 2 hours at a slow, set pace and not feel exhausted.

I then did an abs routine for about 5 minutes.

------

Foodwise, it was a high calorie restaurant week. Two blow out Chinese dinner sessions ranging in the 2000kcal range. Then also a couple 1500kcal mega dinners my mum cooked for me. Then about 5 beers spread over 7 days - which for me is my max. Still getting lots of water and fruit so staying hydrated despite the heat. But in all, with the running and the exercise classes I led this week as well I have pretty muched managed to maintain my weight and fitness.

Each night I have been sleeping about 6 hours on average. Not too bad considering the work load at the moment.

Anyway, off to the gym for an upper body blitz. Its a 20-minutes run either way as well - so I will throw in that new MP3 with the song "Lapdance" from NERD on it. 'I'm an outlaw, quick on the draw, something ya never see before ...'
