Still insanely busy with, but I have managed to maintain the lifting and cardio stuff at a reasonable level over the past three weeks. The physique is toning up nicely, but I may need to take in some of my dress-up trousers and punch extra holes in my belts. I’m visibly slimming- despite my voracious appetite. I wonder how close I am to that 10% body fat percentage? Will check next weekend.
Last week, I started the “on” phase of the creatine cycle again but otherwise, ate and drank the same as I had the week before.
My birthday was in late August, so I must have had about 4 beers and the odd slice of cake (unfortunately not carrot cake. If I had been able to get my hands on some that weekend, I would have definitely eaten more than just the odd slice!). Oh yeah and that weekend I had my annual fish and chips in a dodgy “staff mess hall” – which was soggy and greasy and generally disappointing.
For the past month, I have been having two huge bowls of oats (made with water) and fresh fruit or raisins on most mornings. About half the time, I get time for a lunch at one of my institutional clients’ mess halls – on Thursday’s especially since they have peas and rice with roast chicken, roast veg and salad. I tend to leave off the sauce on it and load up on the roast veg and salad instead. Plus its only £2! I can’t get over that. In variably, I have a rice, green veg and roast meat or baked/steamed fish meal at home in the eves. Taking liberal seconds and thirds.
Staying hydrated with the creatine and the cardio sessions in the heat is hard. Using my pee chart as a guide, I tend to be in the middle square at best. That leaves big room for improvement.
On the fruit front, one of my clients (an NHS head nurse) was telling me that the “5-a-day” fruit and veg moniker was bogus – different people need different amounts of fruit. Well sort of, 5-a-day is a minimum. I say we should be aiming for 10 and falling back on 7 or 8 a day on average. Luckily, I eat Juice Plus+ everyday to top up the intake. I also bring in fresh fruit to my theory classes so all my students (and me of course) gets to eat while we learn/teach.
Finally, I had been sleeping like a baby – usually 7 or 8 hours a night. But just recently (like the past 7 days or so) I have been averaging about 5 hours a night though. Not enough. I feel brain dead. Must sleep more, and go sleep before midnight…
